An on going photo project based on the Isle of Arran in western Scotland.
Arran started as a mythologised location, its rugged landscape and hillside crofts, overlaid with vivid memories and stories about life on the island.
The series contemplates how elusive connections to a place can be, and how an imagined version of a location merges with its reality.
The bonds formed reveal themselves gradually over time. Arran emerges through the lives and experiences of those who call the island their home.
People and their environment become inextricably connected, this relationship is made visible through the artworks they have created, and the animals and land they tend to, and the artifacts they leave behind.
